Malico invests significant capital in R&D.  The concentration is on improved methods in material integration of different materials such as Al-Cu metal alloy, Cu-tube embedded Al cold plate, heat pipe, water block, and liquid systems.  The investment has lead to unmatched products in both air and in liquid cooled solutions.

Research extends to manufacturing methodologies such as precision forging.  Malico has developed unique and cost effective manufacturing techniques in this area.  Precision forging is close-to-final form or close-tolerance forging.  Although not a special technology, it is a refinement of existing techniques to a point where the forged part can be used with little or no subsequent machining.  Malico has developed methods to allow cost effective use of precision forging which was once limited to only high end applications.

Heat sink and part designs using Malico's precision forge technology are significantly improved over typical extrusion or die casting technology because precision forging allows for a larger number of geometry options and of custom bases for heat sink design.  This is especially useful in applications of high power LEDs.
